I cannot begin to tell you all, exactly how happy I was to find out that Australian sewing e-mag, One Thimble, was coming back to our screen!!I am delighted to call Jen and Lucy friends of mine and think they have amazing talent and vision to produce something like this.
The Piper Pinny is from a favourite pattern designer of mine, Nikki from Bubby and Me Creations. It seems like she can read my girls’ minds! Everything she creates is a hit and the Piper Pinny was no different. Excitingly, she increased her size range with this pattern, which will fit sizes 1 – 14! It includes 2 hem lengths and a variety of options to make your garment look amazing!!
For Liv, I sewed a 7w/9l, regular length, with button straps in this pretty, embroidered tencil she chose at Spotlight, and no, I wasn’t there on one of their sale days unfortunately!!
After making the bodysuit and belt bag, I absolutely HAD to keep these two together for photos!! They look completely FAB together and, according to Eleanor, the small sized belt bag is perfect for essentials like sunglasses, Ipod, lipstick and sneaky chocolates!!
Xanadu and Desoto, a match made in 6yo heaven 😉
Sunglasses, chocolates and Ipod, plus a few other ‘essentials’!
The Desoto Belt Bag from new-to-me design company, Phat Quarters, has two size options and a number of different choices for the bag itself, 2 zippers, zip cover, inside pockets and more. The only specialised hardware you need for this is a plastic clip buckle and webbing, though you could totally use fabric instead of webbing. The only changes I made to the pattern was to add a mid weight interfacing and lining.
I used a single zip front with the zip cover, 1″ buckle clip on the back and added interfacing for structure .
The Xanadu Bodysuit from Duchess and Hare has sizes 2-10. I made a straight size 6 for Eleanor and the fit is spot on. It includes short, mid or sleeveless options, as well as the choice to make it a crop top. There is no elastic needed, the neck, arms and legs use bands (unless using sleeves) which are very easy to attach and look great.
Love simple neckbands!!
Xanadu has a simple, low back ❤
Xanadu is not a close fit as some other patterns I have used previously, but it is designed for fabrics starting with 15% stretch. My suggestion is, if you want a closer fit, size down in width to start with and see how it looks.
